Bricket Wood Social Club
Oak Avenue

Tickets are on sale at training from Tuesday 21 February - or online from the Club Shop.

Our inaugural event was a massive success last year, and I would really encourage you to come along (especially the parents of the many new players we have!). Don’t be put off if you haven’t been to a Race Night before – no racing knowledge is required – and so many people named last year’s event as their favourite social event of the season. By the way, bets can be as low as 50p!

To help, U12s’ coach Steve Thomas has provided some answers to FAQs

What time will it all start?
Doors open at 6.30pm - First race to run at 7.00pm

How much are tickets?
Tickets are £5 each (including supper). Buy tickets now.

Is it suitable for children?
Yes, please bring your children along!

How much is it to bet?
Betting on a horse is simple... each horse has a number and punters will buy tickets against their horse of choice. Each ticket will cost 50p. All punters that have backed the winning horse will receive their winnings after the Master of Ceremony has declared the payout per ticket. An absentee tote form will be available shortly for anyone unable to attend but would like to place a bet on a particular horse.

What about food?
Food will be served at approximately 9.00pm, hopefully after 3/4 races.

What is the format?
There will be 8 races comprising 8 runners each. The 7th race will be an auction race where punters can bid for a horse in the Grand Finale (sponsored by GLFC!!). The prize money for the winning horse will be at least double the size of the regular races and will also have a surprise service attached from a willing GLFC Committee member to be named shortly. The final race will be a 'winners from losers' race where all losing tickets should be named and will go into a bucket to be chosen by GLFC members to fill the race card.

Will there be a raffle?
We plan to have a small raffle where two prizes will be a horse in the Grand Finale. We do not envisage having any more than 10 prizes in total.

How much to be an ‘owner’?
Horses cost £5 each to ‘own’. The owner of the winning horse receives a rosette and a prize (bottles of wine, chocolates etc).

Are there sponsorship opportunities for my company?
Yes! Sponsorship is required for 6 races to the value of £20 each - this can be in the form of cash or a service.
